How to Rid your Attic of Pigeons
Pigeons are grayish birds that feed on grain and seeds. However, they like living undisturbed in buildings and sometimes get into the attic. Here are some ways to get them out.
Using electrical shock
This is a very effective method of chasing pigeons from your attic. Just install an electronic mesh on the floor of the attic and if the pigeons step on it they will be electrocuted. However, you have to ensure that the electric shock is mild since you just want it to chase away the pigeons and not kill them.
Use of cats
Cats relish capturing and feeding on birds. If you were to let your cat wander into the attic, then you can be assured that it would scare away the pigeons and those that are too weak to scamper away in time would be eaten. Although this method is cheap and also very effective in chasing away pigeons, there is also the mess that comes with the cat killing more than it can eat. This means that you have to come and clean the corpses yourself and also wipe away any blood left.
Loud deterrent sounds
Rodents are not the only animals that are scared away by loud sounds. Pigeons too are very scared when they hear a very loud unfamiliar sound. This means that all you need to do is install a sound device in your attic. The best type of sound device to install would be a motion activated one as it would be very troublesome to keep the sound running all night long. Just make sure that the sound is not loud enough to disturb your neighbors. The advantage is that the pigeons are mostly active during the day and thus the sound may not disturb your sleep during the night.
